What is Magnesium bisglycinate and how does it differ from citrate?

Magnesium is a charged element that to stay stable needs to be chelated, or in other words, bounded to another compound. There are many chelated magnesium compounds available in the market. They differ in their bioavailability, purpose, and metabolism in the human body. Magnesium citrate is formed by magnesium and citrate. Magnesium citrate tends to have a laxative effect and is commonly used to treat constipation. Magnesium Bisglycinate is magnesium that is bound to two glycine amino acid molecules. Glycine on its own can improve sleep and reduce anxiety, depression, and stress. When combined with magnesium, these effects are enhanced, and the compound is considered to have high rates of absorption.

Is this product suitable for vegetarians and vegans?

Yes. No animal sourced ingredients are found in this product.

Why is Magnesium Oxide included, and how does it differ from Magnesium bisglycinate?

The absorption rate achieved through the combination of magnesium oxide with magnesium bisglycinate was found to be just as effective as magnesium bisglycinate alone. However, it's noteworthy that magnesium bisglycinate is a significantly more expensive ingredient. By incorporating magnesium oxide, a more cost-effective option, we can provide our customers with the advantages of magnesium bisglycinate at a more affordable price.

Are there any known side effects or interactions with this product?

None, but if you are concerned you should speak with your health care provider.

How should I take these capsules with or without food?

There is no need to take these capsules with food. Nevertheless, some individuals might experience stomach sensitivity to the capsules. In this case, taking the capsules with food can help reduce stomach discomfort.

Can I take more than 1 capsule per day?

Health Canada recommends limiting consumption to a maximum of 500 mg for adults, unless otherwise instructed by your health care provider. Organika(R) Magnesium Bisglycinate is 200 mg, thus it is safe to take up to 2 capsules per day.

Why take magnesium for post-workout recovery? - Organika Health Products

As a holistic nutritionist and fitness coach, one of the most common questions I get from my clients is "Which supplements should I be taking?". Depending on your diet, health concerns, and symptoms, that answer always varies except for one, magnesium. Looking to get a night of restful sleep? Magnesium. Need help with post-workout recovery? Magnesium. Ate a big meal and looking for digestive support? Yup, you guessed it, magnesium. I discovered magnesium when searching for something to ease sore muscles and support deep uninterrupted sleep. As someone who works out daily and often goes to bed with a busy mind, my muscles and mind were becoming tired on all fronts! If I could find a supplement that did that and some...I’d be one happy (and rested), woman! I had been familiar with what magnesium offered and a few of the benefits it offered, but the more research I did, the more amazed I became with this mineral. Magnesium is a mineral but different from others, it's the 4th most needed and used mineral in our bodies. In fact, did you know every cell in our body contains magnesium and needs it to function? It is an essential mineral needed to perform hundreds of reactions that occur in our beautiful vessel. It is especially important when it comes to muscle function and recovery. Here’s why: Helps regulate muscle contractions, especially the heart! Helps with post-workout recovery by preventing a buildup of lactic acid, known to cause pain, tightness and muscle cramping after exercising Essential for the production of serotonin Helps to balance and control stress hormones. This is important for those who not only live a high stress lifestyle, but who work out a lot, causing additional stress on the body Is one of the essential electrolytes needed for efficient hydration Plays a huge role in our sleep, which is crucial for muscle repair, improving mood and keeping our energy high and stable! Taking it for a test run As divine timing would have it, my friends over at Organika were just about to release their newest Magnesium Citrate product, Soothe. I opted to try the watermelon & lime flavour first. A little bubbly, which took me by surprise at first, but having eaten dinner shortly before, was actually quite nice. I also learned after my second try with the unflavoured Soothe, if you let it sit for a minute, the effervescence settles down quite a bit. This made a lovely addition to my chamomile tea. The next morning I was pleasantly surprised to wake up to my alarm A) not groggy, which happens with many sleep aids, and B) not nearly as sore as expected after having had an intense ‘leg day’ the day prior. After several weeks of supplementing with Soothe I began to notice benefits in other areas. As someone who runs on all cylinders, I found myself in the ‘chill’ zone more often and content to be there. My post-workout recovery went very smoothly, with muscles not nearly as sore after big workouts and my mood and energy became much more consistent thanks to a good night’s sleep! Another benefit I wasn’t expecting was using the Watermelon Lime Soothe to curb my post dinner sweet tooth. Because it’s slightly carbonated and naturally sweetened, it stopped my craving dead in its tracks. The following week, I took the product with me on a work trip. I appreciated how well I was able to sleep, which can often be a bit rocky when out of routine. The bottom line I’m very excited about this new product from Organika and cannot recommend it enough. With an improvement in my sleep, muscle recovery and a noticeable difference in my stress levels and nervous system, safe to say, it has become a part of my nightly routine. Pairing Soothe with foods high in magnesium such as leafy greens, bananas, oats, and nuts and seeds are just a few delicious ways we can support our incredible bodies that give so much to us. Have you tried Soothe yet? Drop me a line and let me know what you think!

Which Magnesium is Best for Relaxing Muscles? - Organika Health Products

Magnesium is essential for muscle function, particularly when it comes to relaxing muscles and aiding in recovery after physical activity. Whether you’re dealing with muscle cramps, soreness, or general tension, magnesium helps regulate muscle contractions by balancing calcium levels. With various forms of magnesium available, it’s important to know which type works best for muscle relaxation. The most commonly recommended forms are magnesium glycinate (Organika has an Enhanced Collagen Relax that contains a hefty dose, 250mg of magnesium bisglysinate on top of the benefits from the enhanced collagen such as improved hair, skin , nails, joints, and gut health), citrate, malate, and chloride, each offering unique benefits depending on your needs. Magnesium Glycinate is one of the top choices for muscle relaxation due to its high absorbability and calming effects. This form is bound to glycine, an amino acid that promotes relaxation, making it ideal for relieving muscle tension and supporting the nervous system. Magnesium can be taken any time of day, Organika’s Magnesium Bisglycinate Capsules are a premium form of magnesium for stress relief, muscle support and more. Organika's Magnesium Bisglycinate provides 200 mg elemental magnesium and is highly absorbable by your body with decreased digestive discomfort compared to other forms of magnesium. Magnesium Citrate, on the other hand, is popular for its ability to ease muscle cramps and spasms. It is highly absorbable and also helps alleviate constipation, which can sometimes contribute to muscle discomfort, though it may have a mild laxative effect for some. Magnesium Malate is particularly helpful for individuals experiencing chronic muscle pain or fatigue, often used for conditions like fibromyalgia. The malic acid in this form boosts energy production, making it effective for reducing muscle discomfort and stiffness. Magnesium Chloride is commonly applied topically through sprays or bath salts, allowing it to be absorbed through the skin. This can provide quick relief from sore muscles, making it an excellent option for individuals who prefer not to take oral supplements. Clinical studies support magnesium’s role in reducing muscle soreness and aiding recovery after exercise. Research has shown that 350 mg/day of magnesium supplementation for 10 days significantly reduced muscle soreness and improved perceived recovery (Reno et al., 2020). Another study noted a reduction in inflammatory markers like IL-6 and enhanced post-exercise recovery with 500 mg/day of magnesium (Steward et al., 2019). While the optimal form and dosage of magnesium for muscle relaxation are still being studied, it’s clear that magnesium is beneficial for easing muscle tension and improving recovery. Magnesium, an essential mineral for the health of the heart and blood vessels, brain, bones, and muscles, is crucial for the body to function properly. Organika’s premium form of magnesium, bound with glycine, has a gentle nature and gives you a highly absorbable and beneficial nutrient your body needs. Whether you're striving for improved sleep, stronger bones, reduced stress, or enhanced heart health, magnesium bisglycinate is the answer you've been searching for. Why is Magnesium Good for Sore Muscles? - Organika Health Products

The Role of Magnesium in Muscle Recovery Magnesium is well-known for its muscle-relaxing properties, making it an excellent choice for easing sore muscles. It plays a vital role in muscle function by regulating the balance between contraction and relaxation. Magnesium Deficiency and Muscle Soreness Magnesium deficiency can lead to muscle cramps and prolonged tension, often resulting in post-exercise soreness. Organika has many types of magnesium supplements, such as Magnesium Bisglycinate, Mind Calm (a blend of L-Threonate and L-Theonine), Magtein, and our Electrolytes line, which also contains minerals like magnesium to help replenish stores. Supplementing with magnesium helps relax the muscles, allowing for faster recovery after strenuous physical activity. For athletes, magnesium is a popular choice to promote muscle recovery and prevent soreness after intense exercise. Clinical Research Supporting Magnesium Supplementation Clinical research supports the benefits of magnesium for reducing muscle soreness. A study found that taking 350 mg of magnesium daily for 10 days significantly reduced soreness and improved perceived recovery after exercise-induced muscle damage (Reno et al., 2020). Another study showed that 500 mg/day of magnesium supplementation for seven days helped reduce inflammation (IL-6 response), improved blood glucose recovery, and lowered muscle soreness following a running trial (Steward et al., 2019). These findings suggest that magnesium supplementation could be a valuable tool for reducing muscle soreness and enhancing recovery. Check out Organika’s Electrolytes Recovery, a blend of magnesium, L-Glutamine, and BCAAs, to further enhance recovery after exercising, though further research is needed to determine the optimal dosage and type of magnesium for different activities.
