Digestion Woes? We Have Relief. - Organika Health Products

Introducing Digest Relief by Organikawith Ginger and Activated Charcoal Ditch the digestive pain! Digestion issues can vary from an upset stomach, to lack of appetite, nausea, digestive spasms, and indigestion. Those that experience digestive issues know it can be extremely uncomfortable, and let’s face it, who has time for that? Luckily, there is relief and a natural way to combat digestion issues carefully, effectively, and efficiently. Let’s be honest, we all need this from time to time. Digest Relief to the rescue. Organika has created Digest Relief which combines Ginger and Activated Charcoal. This formula is the sigh of relief your digestive tract will breathe and will love you for. It helps to alleviate the pain and discomfort that comes along with any digestive issues. The product is made free of preservatives, artificial sweeteners, colours or flavours, so there is nothing but goodness in a bottle. Let’s break it down. Organika's® Digest Relief™ Ginger with Activated Charcoal is formulated with 25mg of Ginger 20:1 Extract and contains 250mg of Activated Charcoal. Why Ginger and Activated Charcoal? Ginger has long been used in both traditional and alternative medicine as a digestive aid and to reduce nausea. It also has amazing anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, hence why you may also see it being used for the cold and flu. The main active compound in ginger, gingerol, helps to empty the stomach and this helps to alleviate indigestion and any stomach discomfort. Activated Charcoal has recently been popularized in masks and beauty products, but did you know that it’s been used in traditional medicine for acute remedies related to digestion? First off, the charcoal is “activated” with oxygen which expands the charcoal so we can get to the carbon inside. To this, the nasty toxins bind to the charcoal, then get absorbed and get carried out of the body. The result is a toxin-free, clean, and healthy system. So, it makes sense that activated charcoal is great for indigestion, flatulence, bloating, and you guessed it... detox! Don’t Let Digestion Get You Down Again Beat your digestive issues, feel your best and get back to doing what you love daily. Digest Relief comes in convenient V-caps, so you can consume with water, for fast absorption and release. Suggested Use: Pair with Probiotic + Prebiotic Powder which feeds the healthy bacteria in the gut. Clean and alleviate your digestive system with Digest Relief, while Probiotics + Prebiotics take care of the gut ongoing. Shop New Digest Relief

Fall Back into Health: How a Healthy Digestive Tract Means a Healthier You! - Organika Health Products

a Healthy Digestive Tract Means a Healthier You! As the leaves on our beautiful maple trees start to darken and we embrace the new season of pumpkin spice lattes, cozy sweaters and leaf-filled streets, the beginning of Fall is upon us; A season of transformation, warming foods, back to school and shorter days! I always find September a great time to gently detoxify the summer months away and step two feet into a healthy routine filled with vitamin-rich root vegetables, warming bone broths, and collagen apple spiced ciders, a combination of gut healing superfoods for your optimal health! 1) Immunity: 80% of our immune system resides in our digestive tract! Optimal digestive health is key to keeping those common colds and nasty flu bugs away during the fall and winter months. Back to school always seems to bring in viruses and unwanted illness’s the first few months, so ensuring that you and your kids have good digestive health is a great preventative measure! I always like to recommend everyone in the family to take a probiotic daily to keep up our good bacteria and help boost our immune system during those fall months. Organika currently carries probiotic supplements: Active Acidophilus and Super Active Multi-Dophilus. Both promote healthy gut flora. 2) Mental Health: Have you heard of the gut-brain connection? Well, it is true, your gut health plays a huge role in your moods, sleep, and even brain function! 70-80% of our serotonin is created in our digestive tract which is our “happy hormone”. If we have a sluggish gastrointestinal tract or suffer from a leaky gut, you can experience anxiety and depression – widespread in the darker months. When we have healthy gut flora, we experience happier moods, better sleep and find we are more alert and can concentrate more. 3) Nutrient Absorption: One of the most important jobs of the digestive tract is nutrient absorption! It is through our intestinal walls we receive the nutrients from all the healthy foods we eat, vitamins and minerals included. If our digestive tract is compromised and unhealthy, we won’t be getting those essential nutrients for optimal health and can potentially lead to imbalances, deficiencies and even illness. Our digestive tract houses good healthy bacteria to fight off viruses, harmful bacteria and inflammation. The food choices we ingest, supplements we consume all play a huge role in the health of our digestive tract. To put it just, if you have an unhealthy digestive tract, you won’t be getting the benefits of a healthy diet. When we think of a healthy digestive tract, there are few essentials I like to ensure I incorporate daily. To start, I always make sure I eat a diet rich in both soluble/insoluble fibre, whole and organic foods, probiotic-rich foods as well as probiotics themselves daily. I also like to ensure that I use collagen and bone broth daily – both digestive health superfoods rich in amino acids known to heal and protect the intestinal wall, decrease inflammation and improve our overall health. If you suffer from gastrointestinal disturbances, gelatin is an excellent digestive superfood to help soothe, heal and support the health of your digestive tract. Try Organika's Bovine Gelatin! A combination of these healthy tips above can contribute to the health of your digestive tract and overall health. Learn more about what probiotics are and how consuming them benefits our digestive tract in our blog, The Dirt on Healthy Bacteria: Why Probiotics are Nature's Antibiotics. -RECOMMENDED PRODUCTS- Active Acidophilus Super Active Multi-Dophilus Bovine Gelatin Probiotic that forms part of a natural, healthy gut flora. A comprehensive blend of probiotics that promote healthy microbial balance and supports the function of the digestive tract. Organika’s® Bovine Gelatin Powder is non-GMO, gluten free, dairy free, keto/paleo friendly, and sourced from grass-fed cows. – Chelan Wilkins, RHN – National Education Trainer

What is Gut Microbiome & Why Should I Care About It? - Organika Health Products

Would you believe me if I told you that you are made up of trillions of bacteria? Sounds crazy right? At any given time, we have more bacteria (in and on us) than we have human cells. How is that for a “did you know?” Bacteria is found everywhere throughout your body. One very important place it is found however, is in your gut. The gut’s lining, is covered with microscopic bacteria and organisms which impact your health. Your lifestyle, mood, activity, diet all impact the balance of these microorganisms. It’s this microecosystem that is referred to as your gut microbiome. What you want, is good bacteria to make up your microbiome. What are the good bacteria? Good bacteria contribute to our overall health and well-being. We are continuously discovering the never-ending extent into which these little bacteria are beneficial to us. Certain strains of bacteria do really beneficial things in our body such as: Stimulate the immune system Break down food compound Help absorb nutrients and amino acids Play a role in contributing to reactions in the body that impact weight, mood and digestion You will find different families of bacteria in different areas in the gut. In the colon you will mainly find anaerobic bacteria you commonly hear such as for Peptostreptococcus, Bifidobacterium, Lactobacillus, and Clostridium. These “good bacteria” also work to prevent the growth of the “bad bacteria”. There are many ways to keep your gut microflora strong and thriving, in order to help contribute to better health. Listed below are a few ideas of how to incorporate these into your daily routine. DID YOU KNOW? Your gut houses up to 1,000 different species of bacteria? 1. EAT MORE FRUITS AND VEGETABLES I know you hear this often, but we all need reminders from time to time. The bacteria in your gut love the fibres in fruits and vegetables. They use the fibre as a source of energy and it helps them grow strong, which in turn helps keep us strong. Here are some tips to follow: Consider keeping some, if not all, skin on fruits and vegetables because this is a great source of fibre for your gut. Fermented foods such as tempeh and sauerkraut are great for your gut bacteria as well. Fermented foods are a bonus because they contain both prebiotics and probiotics. Adding a new fruit or vegetable to your diet may also help maintain diversity of your gut microflora. 2. LIMIT STRESS I know this is easier said than done, but it is incredibly important. Stress wreaks havoc on your intestinal tract. Constantly being in a state of stress will cause long term damage all over your body, but especially in your gut. This is important because the bacteria in your gut need a healthy environment to thrive. So how do you mitigate the sometimes-unavoidable effects of stress? When you find yourself overwhelmed by daily stressors in life: Take a moment to relax and take a deep breath. Stop for 2 minutes to close your eyes, breathe in for a count of five, and then out for another count of five. Take adaptogens that work to limit your stress, help you come to balance with your mind and body. Products like Maca, Reishi, and Ashwagandha work great. Take stress support supplements with your collagen. Enhanced Collagen Relax offers a blend of collagen (which helps gut health) in combination with L-Theanine (the stress supplement). 3. GET OUTSIDE AND GET DIRTY Using antibacterial products consistently will also damage your microbiome. This means it will destroy the bad bacteria and the good bacteria that keep us healthy. It is also especially important that our immune system does get exposed to bad bacteria. This exposure is vital for our body's ability to build up immunity to these not-so-friendly microbes. It allows our immune system to defend itself more readily in future exposures to these strains. Our bodies are brilliant and will constantly build immunity to bad bacteria and protect us more often than we realize. It is important to have this immunity strong for times when we really need it. When we use antibacterial products often, we kill off beneficial bacteria, and do not provide our immune system with enough exposure to bad bacteria. Without this exposure to bad bacteria, our immune system cannot build up the correct resistance - sometimes it is okay to get a little dirty! If you want to maintain a healthy microflora the true trick is to keep it simple! Eat a variety of fruits and vegetables in your diet, work on reducing stress. Next time you are at the park with your children, try playing with them in the sandbox! Note: Kids should be taking probiotics daily, get their microbiome off to a healthy head start. Cheers to good health! Amy Wilson
